Mo'Nique: Spread the Love Tour

The award-winning comic-turned-actress is putting her serious side away for a while

Comedian and talk-show host Mo'Nique uses real life as the basis for her stand-up routines, so she should have lots of new things to talk about on her Spread the Love tour, which is making a stop in Houston today. She'll probably talk about her growing, active twin sons; what it was like to move from a cable channel comic to a Hollywood big leaguer with just one movie; and how to work the red carpet (she's seen lots of those over the last few months as she made the rounds collecting dozens of honors and nominations, including Golden Globe and Academy Award wins). And hopefully, she'll dip into some of Tiger Woods's off-course business. As a talk-show host, Mo'Nique has endeared herself to viewers; they find her down-home, genuine and enthusiastic. Mo'Nique's humor may be a little on the raw side - in the past she used the word "bitch" to excess when talking about other women - but audiences appreciate that she's a rough-talking woman who doesn't pull any punches. See if you can take it at 8 p.m. Reliant Arena, 1 Reliant Center. For information, visit www.ticketmaster.com. $39 to $59.
