Murals Under the Stars

Gregorio Luke goes off the wall

With the help of some nifty technology, Murals Under the Stars will bring some of Mexico's greatest wall art to Discovery Green. The digital projections of murals by Diego Rivera, Jose Clemente Orozco, David Alfaro Siqueiros and Rufino Tamayo are so high-quality, they'll make you feel like you're gazing on the originals. Amazingly, that even applies to Rivera's Man at the Crossroads, which John D. Rockefeller Jr. ordered destroyed in 1934 because it depicted Lenin and STD cells, among other unsavory things. Gregorio Luke, the Latin American-art expert behind the show, will deliver a lecture intended for a general audience (read: engaging instead of pedantic). 8 p.m. 1500 McKinney. For information, call 713-400-7336 or visit www.discoverygreen.com. Free.
Fri., April 23, 8 p.m., 2010
