Hailing from the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, Local Natives has enjoyed one of the biggest SXSW buzzes for two years running. Indie peeps around Austin were raving about their galloping sound and snaky rhythms after every day show and stray showcase set. We sort of get a sunnier summer-house version of the Sub Pop's Fleet Foxes more than anything else, and the band's latest LP, Gorilla Manor, proves our case. We aren't alone in throwing around that tag, seeing that everyone from Rolling Stone to Pitchfork has been waving that flag since the album hit stores in February. Our current Gorilla standout is "Camera Talk," with its jumpy and airy, anthemic chorus.
