"American Women"

It's ladies night - and day - at the Aerosol Warfare gallery

Aerosol Warfare Gallery fights domestic violence with the multi-artist show "American Women." "The artwork isn't dark at all," gallery founder Gonzo247 says. "We're not trying to focus on the situation these women are in. The work is more enlightening and positive...It celebrates American women in a variety of aspects, and [also says] this is a cause you should keep an eye out for." The exhibit features a stylistically diverse slate of new, female-centered artwork from Gonzo; exhibit curator Dirk Strangely; Reverend Butter, who's known for his ice sculpture but will provide a painting for the show; David Mack, an award-winning painter and Marvel Comics artist; and several others. A silent auction will benefit the Houston Area Women's Center. 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays, noon to 8 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Through May 24. 2110 Jefferson. Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: May 2. Continues through May 24, 2010
