Hey Houston, y'all weren't the first art car creators. "In Pakistan...[18-wheeler] trucks are festively decorated," says Sebha Sarwar of Voices Breaking Boundaries. The truckers of her native land "pimp" their rides with reflective glass, animal murals and more. She borrowed from this tradition for VBB's art car, which will be unveiled at "Living Room Art: Art Car Sprawl in the First Ward."The regular event turns a local home into a venue for national and international art, music and poetry, but today's focus will be the organization's auto. The now-roofless hatchback meshes together all things VBB with video screens playing various documentaries, a paint job in the style of Pakistani truck art and a podium - complete with microphone and speaker system - in place of the passenger seat. "The mission of the organization is to give voice," says Sarwar. They'll give the mobile-speaking space a test drive at the event. "We are going to roll up the car into the driveway [for the event] and we'll do the open mike from the car," she says. 5 to 9 p.m. Private home, 1800 Edwards Street. For information, call 713-524-7821 or visit www.vbbarts.org. Free.
