Curator Chris Nelson had a real challenge putting together Projected.2010: New Visions of Sound and Light. That's to be expected when you're trying to create a new art form that blurs the lines between cinema, performance and the fine arts. The show mixes live performances by dancers and musicians with video works. "The idea is to provide a forum for filmmakers and performers to bring their work to a live audience, more of a 'gig' than a screening," says Nelson via press materials. "I want to take art video out of the gallery and documentary video off of the computer screen, and provide a space for a projected 'jam session' where new ideas can develop." The eclectic program will include works by Tierney Malone, John Carrithers, Robert Thoth and Architects of Cinema. 8 p.m. FrenetiCore, 5102 Navigation. For information, call 832-426-4624 or visit www.freneticore.net. $12 to $15.
Sat., May 1, 8 p.m., 2010
