When it comes to weed-friendly artists, SoCal's Cypress Hill comes in third behind Snoop Dogg and the grandpappy of reefer, Willie Nelson, in terms of musicians who have done the most PR work for the sweet leaf. Across the group's two-decade history, they helped mainstream Latin hip-hop early in their career when the genre was firmly hidden under more commercial-friendly West Coast rappers like Snoop and the various N.W.A. offshoots. The band broke big in 1993 with "Insane in the Membrane" from Black Sunday, and have kept a brisk and busy touring and recording schedule ever since, save for their recent studio layoff. This year, the band signed to Priority and finished tracking the brand-new Rise Up, which includes a track recorded with Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello.
