Even though he's no longer part-owner of the music-venue chain, Dan Aykroyd would hardly pass up a chance to stop by House of Blues while he's in town to grand-marshal Saturday's Art Car Parade (see left). Friday night, Aykroyd — sorry, "Elwood Blues" — dons his signature suit 'n' shades to emcee the Houston Heart & Soul Blues Benefit Concert, a mouthful of a title for a show featuring four of the Bayou City's top homegrown talents (and for a good cause). Headlining is the unpredictable but predictably funky Little Joe Washington, with Lightnin' Hopkins's guitar-picking cousin Milton, harmonica smoothie Texas Johnny Boy and vocal powerhouse Diunna Greenleaf along for the smooth, smooth ride. Never one to just sit back and watch while there's a tasty jam session in progress, Aykroyd/Elwood will no doubt dust off his harmonica and join in the fun. Proceeds benefit the International House of Blues Foundation, which sponsors various school and community programs dedicated to raising awareness of the blues and other forms of African-American culture.
