The Man Without a Past

Maybe life starts right now

Finnish auteur Aki Kaurismaki directed the offbeat comedy The Man Without a Past. After a man (Markku Peltola) wakes up from a violent mugging with no memory of his life before the attack, he wanders the outskirts of Helsinki. Eventually, a poor family takes him in. A kindly Salvation Army worker (Kati Outinen) helps him find work, and he slowly begins to build a life, much to the dismay of officials who don't like having a man with no identity walking around. Kaurismaki's The Man Without a Past is a comedic look at what life can be when you're given endless options. 8:30 p.m. Domy Books, 1709 Westheimer.
