"Three Records: New Photos by Chrissy Piper"

The rock photographer polls music fans about their favorite three albums

Which three albums influenced you most? This is the question rock and roll photographer Chrissy Piper posed to musicians, artists, friends and family. The questionnaire spawned a zine and an art exhibit of the same name. "Three Records: New Photos by Chrissy Piper"is a collection of portraits paired with the explanations for top-three picks. Subjects range from indie notables such as Aesop Rock and Jawbreaker's Blake Schwarzenbach to children of Piper's friends. The reasons include connection to memories, moments of clarity and, in the case of one five-year-old girl, overcoming fears. The daughter of a record store owner, the girl chose Tom Waits because "'I used to be scared of it...I'd like to play [the] song "Apples and Bananas" for him. I was gonna fly on an airplane with him and you,' that's what she told her dad," Piper says, laughing. There's an opening reception 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Regular viewing hours are noon to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays. Through June 24. Domy Books, 1709 Westheimer.
