Birdemic: Shock and Terror is to Avataras Weird Al is to the Brandenburg concertos. In the digitally shot movie, a young couple deals with topical issues (global warming, modern sexuality, et al.) while attempting to fight off a vicious army of vultures and eagles that's assaulting a Northern California town, killing and maiming scores of helpless citizens. The 2008 film - basically engineered to become a cult classic - features intentionally crappy/hilarious graphics and a storyline that makes Hitchcock's The Birds feel like a documentary. Birdsstar Tippi Hedren makes an "appearance" via archival footage. 11:55 p.m. Friday and Saturday. River Oaks Theatre, 2009 West Gray. For information, call 713-866-8881 or visit www.landmarktheatres.com. $9.75.
Fri., May 21, 11:55 p.m.; Sat., May 22, 11:55 p.m., 2010
