"DINOSAURS! At the Houston Zoo"

Take a walk on the wild side

The Houston Zoo will have a few unusual visitors this summer at the "Dinosaurs! At the Houston Zoo" exhibit, visitors that haven't walked the earth for millions of years. The display is populated by ten animatronic re-creations. There's a nest of tiny Parasaurolophus dinosaurs (well, as tiny as one of the largest creatures ever seen on the planet can be), a Stegosaurus, complete with armor plating for skin, and the feared Tyrannosaurus Rex, whose name means "tyrant lizard king." Visitors who are especially interested in spending time with the animated beasts might opt for Doze with the Dinosaurs, an overnight experience that includes after-dark flashlight tours of the zoo, meet-and-greets with animal ambassadors and lots of hands-on family activities. See "Dinosaurs! At the Houston Zoo" 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily. Through September 6. $2 with regular paid admission. The first Doze with the Dinosaurs event is 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. June 5. Through August 28. $45. 6200 Hermann Park Drive. For information and a full Doze with the Dinosaurs schedule, call 713-533-6500 or visit www.houstonzoo.org.
