Love, According to Tracy Letts

Explore love among the mentally ill and insect infested

Theatre Southwest describes its production of Bugas a "riveting love tale [that] unfolds out of schizophrenic delusions in a seedy, bug-infested motel room where crack-fueled emotions ignite into a final descent into madness." So if your interests are more Notebookthan Hostel, this play about a woman who gets caught between her abusive ex-husband and a would-be savior/lover, who turns out to be frighteningly delusional, might not be to your liking. Still, author Tracy Letts (who won a Pulitzer Prize for August: Osage County) is known for doing the important work of exposing the ugliness that the American underclass often faces. Here, he tackles the abuse of both people and substances, the isolation of the mentally ill and a host of other problems - and, yes, bedbugs are among them. 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 3 p.m. June 6. Through June 19. 8944 Clarkcrest. For information, call 713-661-9505 or visit www.theatresouthwest.org. $15.
Fridays, Saturdays. Starts: May 28. Continues through June 19, 2010
