Houston LGBT Pride Parade

Everyone loves a parade

The annual Houston LGBT Pride Parade (this year's theme: "Pride, Not Prejudice") will be the 32nd incarnation of the yearly celebration. More than 100,000 spectators of all stripes are expected to crowd into the lower Westheimer area, where revelers jockey good-naturedly for beads, condoms and other prizes as the party floats roll past. The first nighttime pride parade in the country, this is basically the Inner Loop's Mardi Gras. This year's parade Grand Marshals include Houston Mayor Annise Parker, Bravo TV's Andy Cohen and community organizers Ann Robison (of the Montrose Counseling Center), Carol Wyatt (founding member of Northwest Corner) and Gary Wood (Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce). Don't miss the best people-watching Houston has to offer. 8 p.m. Starting point is Dunlavy and Westheimer. For route and other event information, call 713-529-6979 or visit www.pridehouston.org. Free to $75.
Sat., June 26, 8 p.m., 2010
