In The Wizard of Ozeveryone is thinking about Dorothy. But Stephen Schwartz's and Winnie Holzman's award-winning Broadway musical Wickedshows us that the folks in Oz couldn't have cared less about some pipsqueak from Kansas. In the hugely successful 2003 musical retelling of the Oz story, the central characters are Elphaba, a magically talented green girl who grows up to become the deeply misunderstood Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda, a blond, politically savvy teen who has to learn how to be the Good Witch that she's destined to become. The very cool girl-power story is about politics, a friendship between these two girls who have almost nothing in common, and the way stories can turn the truth upside down - Elphaba is truly good after all. The show features some really fabulous musical numbers, including "Popular," "Defying Gravity" and "No One Mourns the Wicked." 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays; 2 and 7:30 p.m. Sundays.
