More About

TV shows, computer games and 3-D flicks are all vying for your kid’s attention this summer. Take a break from the artificial, CGI images and see some real, live actors onstage at the Children’s Hilltop Theater Festival this week. Kicking off the Express Children’s Theatre-sponsored event Tuesday is Kian Long, Texas Pioneer. Long was the slave and lifelong companion of noted 1820s settler Jane Long. (Kids in Texas know who that is!) The festival gets exotic, however, on Wednesday with Asian Treasures, a collection of ancient fairy tales from across the world’s largest continent featuring a cast of talking monkeys, birds and tigers. Thursday and Friday bring the tried-and-true classics Three Billy Goats Gruff and Alice in Wonderland to the spotlight. 11 a.m. Tuesday through Friday. Miller Outdoor Theatre, 6000 Hermann Park Drive. For information, call 713-682-5044 or visit www.expresstheatre.com. Free.
