Pauly Shore

I'm looking for an orphan, preferably one that's waterproof

Pauly Shore has a comedy legacy few others can match: His father opened for Elvis, his mother owned the Comedy Store on Hollywood's Sunset Strip and he was mentored by none other than the late, great Sam Kinison. Shore's latest film, Adoption, which he wrote and directed, hit DVD shelves last month. It shows him poking fun at celebrities adopting Third World kids like they’re walking fashion accessories. (Shore goes to Africa and test-drives a variety of kids, most of whom reject him as a potential parent after spending the day with him.) You can expect Shore's signature straight-faced, ever-more-absurd situational comedy during his stand-up performance today. 8 p.m. Improv, 7620 Katy Freeway. For information, call 713-333-8800 or visit www.improvhouston.com. $25.
