British composer Gustav Holst's space opera The Planets was written almost 100 years ago (between 1914 and 1916). A bit ahead of its time, it was the forerunner of John Williams's sweeping film music such as "The Imperial Motif" from Star Wars and "Flying" from E.T. Enjoy all those inspiring tunes and more when you take a melodic trip to outer space during the Houston Symphony's The Planets - An HD Odyssey, led by conductor Brett Mitchell. In addition to the compositions by Holst and Williams, the multimedia show features a high-definition film that includes planetary images of NASA's space exploration, projected on a big screen. 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
