“do I know you”

Inman Gallery asks the question, “Haven’t we met before?”

If a picture is worth a thousand words, the works on display in the Inman Gallery’s “do I know you,”an exhibition of several dozen portraits by 30 different artists, speak volumes. The portraits consist of photographs, paintings, sculpture and various other media and run the gamut from jovial to haunting. Some of the subjects are naked, starkly real in black and white, while others are distant and ghostly abstractions. See Heyd Fontenot’s red ink portraits of hipster types, Angela Fraleigh’s portrait of an Ophelia-esque young woman underwater, Francesca Fuchs’s irreverent image of a middle-aged man smiling against tacky wallpaper and John Sonsini’s face-on portraits. Come face to face with “do I know you” 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Through August 21. 3901 Main. For information, call 713-526-7800 or visit www.inmangallery.com. Free.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Starts: Aug. 3. Continues through Aug. 21, 2010
