[Its] real people, like us, who are interested in having a say in what emerging [artists] should be part of a museum collection, says co-organizer Natalie Zelt. She and her cohorts selected 14 photographs by local, national and international rising stars including Bryan Schutmaat (Houston), Daniel George (Georgia) and Claire Martin (Australia). But the GoGo crew are letting partygoers decide what work is museum bound. Everyone who gets a ticket gets along with an open bar, [a dance party] and delicious snacks three votes and they can vote toward which pieces they think should be purchased with the collected funds from the tickets, explains Zelt. The purchases will be gifted to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. So, partygoers can later take credit for a work hung in the MFAH? Exactly, says Zelt.
