A trio of children is at the center of the film Walkabout(the Australian term refers to a rite of passage for adolescent boys during which they journey into the wilderness). Two white children (played by Jenny Agutter and Luc Roeg) suddenly find themselves alone and helpless in the Australian outback. Luckily, the pair is befriended by an Aboriginal boy (played by David Gulpilil) who is on a walkabout. The three travel through the bush with the Aboriginal boy acting as guide and protector. A growing sexual curiosity between the girl and Aboriginal boy adds to the story’s tension, while the majority of the action shows the small group’s unconditional acceptance of each other and their differing customs. 8:30 p.m. Domy Books, 1709 Westheimer.
