Ray Price is so old our mother and father used to slide the coffee table to the side of the living room so they could dance to his classic "Night Life" when it took the country-music world by storm in 1963. By then, he was already a 15-year veteran of the Nashville scene. Elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1996, Price actually lived with Hank Williams Sr. for a brief period in his early Nashville days and took over Hank's band the Drifting Cowboys after Williams' death. By the '60s, Price had formed the Cherokee Cowboys, whose alumni are a Who's Who of country music: Willie Nelson, who wrote "Night Life"; Roger Miller, who wrote "Invitation to the Blues"; Darrell McCall; Johnny Paycheck; and drummer Johnny Bush, who wrote Nelson's "Whiskey River." The Press recently spoke with Bush, who reports that Price's voice remains "amazing," and that the 84-year-old is still capable of the old magic. Sources at Dosey Doe say this will be a full-band show.
