Let the Right One In

Swedish vampires in love - betcha haven't seen this story

To Twilight-fatigued movie fans, the 2008 Let the Right One In is a fresh take on the vampire-in-love genre. Made in Sweden, Let the Right One In follows a human boy and a vampire girl, both 12 years old, as they become friends and eventually stumble into the beginnings of a romance. The flick earns its label as a romantic horror film since the number of body parts that go flying around is equaled by the number of sweet and touching moments between the young couple.

By the way, the best way to enjoy a good scary movie is - how else - to get hammered at the concessions bar before the lights go down and then pray to the god of your choice that you don't meet some creepy vampire kid on your drive home. 11:59 p.m. Friday and Saturday. River Oaks Theatre, 2009 West Gray. For information, call 713-866-8881 or visit www.landmarktheatres.com. $9.50.
Fri., Sept. 3, 11:59 p.m.; Sat., Sept. 4, 11:59 p.m., 2010
