"The Charreria, Mexican Pride and Tradition"

Julia Vizcarra's photo exhibition "The Charreria, Mexican Pride and Tradition" presents a different kind of rodeo from the one Houstonians are used to. A charreriais a competition/rodeo/horse show rolled into one that's popular in Mexico. Vizcarra's black-and-white photography depicts the cowboys in full costume doing tricks on horseback or foot. In the charra skirmish, women on horseback perform equestrian feats at full gallop while riding side-saddle. And in the Pass of Death, cowboys riding bareback at full speed attempt to jump from their horses onto untamed horses. 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Through September 8.
