Mark the bicentennial of Mexican independence with the Chevron Fiesta Sinfónica. Assistant conductor Brett Mitchell will lead the Houston Symphony orchestra in a program that celebrates music by well-known Mexican composers such as Arturo Márquez's Danzón No. 2 and Blas Galindo's Sones de Mariachi as well as American Aaron Copland's El Salón México (Galindo studied under Copland for a time before going on to become a professor at Mexico's National Conservatory). 6 p.m. Jones Hall, 615 Louisiana.
