Dance the tango at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston; listen to Dr. Christopher Rothko, the son of legendary artist Mark Rothko, discuss his father's work; play with pirates; watch re-enactments by costumed Buffalo Soldiers; or talk to a Holocaust survivor - you can do all this and much, much more at today's 14th Annual Museum District Day. And there's plenty to eat, too. The Health Museum will be offering healthy snacks (of course), but ice cream, sweet lemonade and Happy Meals will also be among the many offerings. Some 17 museums and organizations will be open to the public, each one offering free general admission. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Various locations. For information, call 713-715-1939 or visit www.houstonmuseumdistrict.org. Free.
Sat., Sept. 25, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., 2010
