The premise behind Samm-Art Williams's comedy The Waiting Roomis simple: There's nothing like sitting in the waiting room of a hospital to test one's faith. After patriarch Pullen Innes has a heart attack and ends up in the hospital, his family and friends gather to await his fate. The waiting room is filled up with characters including hot-to-trot Uncle Pat, wild-thang Cookie Whittaker, and Riley, the serious young man who has rushed home from out of town to see his ill father.
