Festival of Lights

It's become a family tradition for many Gulf Coast residents - a trek down to Moody Gardens for the Festival of Lights. The festival is the largest holiday event of its kind in the area, with more than a million lights decorating animated displays along a mile-long trail. This year the festival has added a Snow Zone for kids and a new show, Imagine Christmas, which features aerial acrobats retelling the Christmas story. All the regular Moody Gardens attractions are available, most with a holiday theme. There's a range of 3-D films including Toy Story III 3-D, Light Before Christmas 3-D and Santa vs. the Snowman 3-D, along with an outdoor ice skating rink and the big man himself, Santa, feeding the penguins in the ten-story aquarium pyramid whenever he gets a break from hearing the children's wish lists. Spend the day at Moody Gardens and enjoy a holiday wonderland. The Festival of Lights is open Thursdays through Saturdays through December 12 and daily after that through January 1. One Hope Boulevard, Galveston Island. For information, call 800-582-4673 or visit www.moodygardens.org. Prices vary.
