With Trey Songz and Miguel, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, at Toyota Center, 1510 Polk, 866-446-8849 or www.toyotacentertix.com.
It's Ursher, baby, and he's hitting up the Toyota Center this week with his panty-dropping brand of R&B and soul-lite. Thirty-two-year old Dallas native Usher Raymond is now seven albums deep into a mega-successful career full of hit singles, sex jams and radio standbys. He's not only responsible for bringing the wider world the talents of Lil' Jon ("Yeah!") and Robin Thicke, but is also Justin Bieber's de facto mentor. Even if you find the latter offensive and nothing to brag about, Usher is the pre-eminent pop soulman of his generation, melding funky dance moves with salacious come-ons that skirt the edge of filthiness just so, making him safe to listen to with your parents. His two 2010 releases, March's Raymond v. Raymond LP and August's Versus EP, feature some of the most moistening tracks of his 16-year run in "Lingerie" and "There Goes My Baby."
