Houston finally has Fat Tony's LP RABDARGAB in its collective and figurative hands and ears, and the wait was more than worth it. The three-time Houston Press Music Award winner for Best Underground Hip-Hop unleashes his debut LP Friday night, with B L A C K I E on tap for support. For at least the past year we have heard in the wind — from not only Tony himself, but others too — about the riches the album would hold. Every single promise was kept and then some. Opener "Nigga, You Ain't Fat" oozes out your speakers like a pat of butter rolling off the side of a steaming ear of corn. Tony's production gets cosmic on standouts like "Home" and "Put It in the Air" respectively, biting off bits of Mantronix in the process. "Luv It Mayne" is a late contender for Houston anthem of the year, with its refrain now firmly implanted in the Bayou City lexicon. Tony is as hip-hop as punk rock gets in this city in 2010, and he's only going to begin shining brighter. Mayne.
