Ring in 2011 with one of the country’s most accomplished orchestras at the Houston Symphony on New Year’s Eve at the Centrum concert. Conductor Brett Mitchell, who spends a large amount of his time circling the world, leading such groups as the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Orchestre National de France, will be at the podium. The program will include a range of audience favorites such as selections from West Side Story and The Marriage of Figaro. (Sorry, the orchestra won’t be performing Auld Lang Syne. You’ll have to sing that on your own.) 8 p.m. Cypress Creek Christian Community Center, 6823 Cypresswood Drive. For information, call 281-440-4850 or visit www.houstonsymphony.org. $30 to $60.
Fri., Dec. 31, 2010
