When he was nine years old, Raymond Benson saw his first James Bond movie, Goldfinger, and got hooked on 007. Thirty-two years later, the native Texan was asked to write a James Bond novel, Zero Minus Ten, by the Bond publishers. Needless to say, it was a treat for Benson, who at one time had been the vice president of the James Bond 007 Fan Club in New York City and had already written several James Bond computer games. Benson will sign and discuss his latest release, Choice of Weapon, today. The book is an anthology of three Bond novels (Zero Minus Ten, The Facts of Death and The Man with the Red Tattoo, his final Bond title) and two rarely seen short Bond stories (“Live at Five” and “Midsummer Night’s Doom”) that were published in Playboy. Benson will also sign and discuss Thrillers: 100 Must-Reads, an anthology of essays to which he contributed. 6 p.m. Murder by the Book, 2342 Bissonnet.
