The mega-musical West Side Story has come roaring into the modern era in the form of a huge 2010 revival hit on Broadway. Earlier this month, the show departed the Great White Way, and its now headed to Houston, with little changed from the 1957 classic by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim. By now, a couple of generations have memorized Tonight, I Feel Pretty and America; no doubt at least some audience members have mimicked the legendary choreography of Jerome Robbins, complete with the high-flying skirts of Puerto Rican dancers, the toe-tapping, finger-snapping knife fights between the Sharks and the Jets, and the tender pas de deux of Maria (Ali Ewoldt) and Tony (Kyle Harris). There is one slight change to the production: More than 10 percent of both the dialogue and singing will be performed in Spanish. 7:30 p.m. January 12. Runs through January 23.
