It’s mudbug season in Houston, and among the many events dedicated to celebrating, seasoning and ultimately devouring members of the Astacoidea and Parastacoidea biological families, there’s the Annual Crawfish Festival in the Heights. “We’re very excited to grow this event this year, attracting people from well beyond the Heights,” says event chairperson Janet S. Featherston. A ticket buys a plate of crawfish with all the fixings, and a soft drink or beer. Other foods will also be for sale, and live music from country and classic rock band Randy Marshall and the Law will provide the soundtrack to so many brain-sucking festivities, any zombie would be jealous. New to this year’s festival will be a musical washers tournament, so get ready to throw some serious metal. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Greater Heights Chamber of Commerce, 414 West 19th Street.
