More About

Choreographer Michele Brangwen considers her latest piece, KATSU, to be her wildest and most experimental to date. Named after the Zen word for roar, KATSU explores the power of human emotions and our response to change. “We hear the roar of change approaching, but we don’t know to run with it or from it,” says Brangwen. The performance includes a video camera feed displaying live footage on a screen behind the Michele Brangwen Dance Ensemble members. “In KATSU, the cameraman, Jeremy Choate, is not only contributing to the work as it is happening, he is also a character in the work and incorporated into the imagery,” says Brangwen. In addition to video, trumpeter Tim Hagans, bassist Thomas Helton and saxophonist Seth Paynter perform on stage, debuting new music. The evening starts with a yet-to-be-named short film. 6 and 8 p.m. FotoFest, 1113 Vine Street. For information, call 713-533-9515 or visit www.brangwendance.org. $15 to $20.
Sun., April 3, 6 & 8 p.m., 2011
