There have been a series of murders and animal mutilations. The suspect’s name is Robert, he stands about two feet tall and he’s a tire. Rubber, directed by Quentin Dupieux, is a film about a tire, left for junk in the dessert, that comes to life. While rolling along, he discovers he has telekinetic abilities to destroy anything he wants. Robert starts with small crimes, like blowing up discarded objects and the heads of small animals. But when he realizes he really wants to leave his tread marks on the community, he begins to target humans. As police units mobilize and piles of tires are burned, Robert rolls into his fate. 11:55 p.m. Friday and Saturday. River Oaks Theatre, 2009 West Gray.
