The 36-year-old Rajiv Joseph is presently basking in the sort of acclaim most living playwrights never know. His Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, a Pulitzer Prize finalist last year, is in the midst of a Broadway run with Robin Williams. And this month, Houston has dibs on the world premiere of Josephs latest play, The Monster at the Door, opening at the Alley Theatre as part of its New Play Initiative. The play focuses on A) a colossal piece of art thats been commissioned by a global corporation, B) the exploration of seduction and metamorphosis, and C) a myste-rious woman with the power to heal who somehow leaves a trail of chaos and destruction in her wake. Translation: Did we mention it was written by Rajiv Joseph?
