Trust

David Schwimmer, better known as Ross from the television series Friends, wants to be a movie director. He has more than enough riches from years of residuals to open his own studio if he wanted, but for now he’s content to go the indie route. His second feature, following the disappointing comedy Run, Fatboy, Run, is the topical thriller Trust, about how nasty Internet sex offenders prey upon the virginal, nubile newcomer Liana Liberato (who just happens to hail from Galveston).

Reviewing the film at the Toronto Film Festival last September, Variety gave it a lukewarm review, but heaped praise upon the “classy, top-billed duo” of Clive Owen and Catherine Keener, who play the anguished parents of the clueless teen. At the Houston premiere screening, screenwriter Andy Bellin will introduce the movie and then lead a question-and-answer session afterward. 7 p.m. May 16, 1 p.m. May 21, 28 and 29. Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, 1001 Bissonnet. For information, call 713-639-7515 or visit www.mfah.org/films. $6 to $7.
Mon., May 16, 7 p.m.; Sat., May 21, 1 p.m.; Sat., May 28, 1 p.m.; Sun., May 29, 1 p.m., 2011
