George Lucas has once again lent artifacts and props from his popular Star Wars film franchise to Houston. This time its for Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination at the Health Museum, an exploration of the futuristic technology that was seen in the six films in the series and the science that was behind them. As visitors will see, some of that technology isnt too far off in fact, some of it is already here (especially when it comes to the robotics seen in the movies).
There are film clips, models, costumes and props from the films on display, including characters C-3PO, R2-D2, Hans Solo and Chewbacca. There are also several hands-on, interactive and immersible experiences, such as two Engineering Design Labs, where visitors can test out their own ideas about Star Wars-like technology, and the Millennium Falcon, which allows fans to make a virtual jump into lightspeed. If you cant wait until the official opening of the show on June 18, theres a midnight opening for Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination exhibit 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday, June 17. $35 to $50. Regular exhibit hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Through September 18. 1515 Hermann Drive.
