Helmut Newton: White Women, Sleepless Nights • Big Nudes

If you’re expecting to see nudie magazine-type shots at the exhibit “Helmut Newton: White Women • Sleepless Nights • Big Nudes” you’re definitely in the wrong place, pervy pal. Instead, attendees of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston’s latest photography show can get all sophisticated about the genre of nude art, thanks to some seminal works by the German-Australian shutterbug. The works in this show will include all 205 pieces from Newton’s first three photography books, including Big Nudes (1981). The late photographer’s quintessential effort, featuring naked models in haunting poses and potent black-and-white lighting conditions, could quiet even the loudest “Oh, this stuff totally objectifies women!” critic.
