Thanks to Glasnost, Houston synth-pop fans don't have to wait for the latest Pitchfork fad to leave their Williamsburg loft or another '80s holdover to haul their keyboards into Numbers. With music that holds up against prime John Hughes soundtracks — reminiscent of anything from Kraftwerk to the Rapture — the electro quartet has brightened local venues like Rudyard's, The Mink and Notsuoh while making waves well beyond the Loop. Web sites from Chicago to Australia have noticed, L.A. Dance Blog appointed the group one of its "10 Acts Worth Following" last year, and Beatport listed Glasnost's latest single, "Corridor," as one of its Top 50 downloads back in March. And all of this without releasing a proper album — yet. Glasnost and Oklahoma City label Robot Dance will remedy that in September with full-length debut Decade, but first offer a preview Friday in the form of a release party for new single and video "Valis."
