Balaclavas and Black Leather Jesus step up Sunday at Dean's for a special free gig honoring their Dull Knife label head Brent Tipton's growing one year older. We can't think of a better way to celebrate Labor Day weekend than with a shot of Black Leather Jesus, one of Texas's most revered noise acts, and a set from the Bala boys, who are currently gearing up for next LP Snake People, which hits October 18. Judging from the two songs currently streaming on Balaclavas's Bandcamp site and the preview they turned in opening for iceage a few months back, the follow-up to 2010's Roman Holiday promises to death-disco the shit out of you. (Let's be honest, they didn't open for iceage, iceage played the Balaclavas after-party before The Energy wrecked the place.) Tipton says that the band is promising a "one-off weird set for the show," and there will be no live drumming. As always with Black Leather Jesus, bring your own whip and earplugs and let Richard Ramirez have his way with your jugular.
