Think you have a cool job? Chances are Dr. Colleen Begg, founder of the Niassa Lion Project, has you beat. Begg works along with her researcher husband Keith Begg and a team of five villagers, protecting the majestic beasts that live on the Niassa National Reserve in Mozambique. Today’s guest at the Houston Zoo’s 2011 Call of the Wild Speaker Series, Begg will discuss her efforts to promote safe coexistence between the large car-nivorous predators and the 30,000 villagers who also live there.
