"Perspectives 176: Glen Fogel:With Me ... You"

Personal love letters and family wedding rings make their way into the exhibit “Perspectives 176: Glen Fogel: With Me … You.” The letters are oversize trompe l’oeil paintings of real notes New York artist Glen Fogel received while he was in high school, complete with wrinkles, stains and fold lines. From Jamie, August 20 reads, “Glen Fogel, what magic and enchantment that name is to me,” while From Jess, September 30, 1994 reads, “You were just a heartless, selfish, immature wannabe.”

The show also features video footage of wedding rings that belong to Fogel’s family members. The rings are presented as if they’re being offered for sale on the Home Shopping Network, complete with slowly moving turntables, starburst filters and sharp focus. Wall-size projections of the rings, which are shown in near silhouette, fill the gallery. There’s an opening reception at 7 p.m. October 14. Regular viewing hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Through December 31. 5216 Montrose. For information, call 713-284-8250 or visit www.camh.org. Free.
Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: Oct. 14. Continues through Dec. 31, 2011
