37th Annual Texas Renaissance Festival

There will be wenches and sabers and roasted turkey legs at the 37th Annual Texas Renaissance Festival. The largest festival of its type in the country, Ren Fest transports Texans back to a time when women wore punishing push-up bras and men thought jousting was fun (come to think of it, men still think jousting is pretty fun).

More About

Ren Fest has several themed weekends, so you can have your choice of Pirate Adventure, Roman Bacchanal, Highland Fling or a Barbarian Invasion. (Not to be biased or anything, but we’re going for the Barbarians.) Those of you with milder tastes might like Oktoberfest or Celtic Christmas. A new market village covers more than 60 acres, so you can shop for all the handmade crafts and era garb you like, and maybe even pick up a jousting pole or two. 9 a.m. to dusk, Saturdays and Sundays. Through November 27. 21778 FM 1774, Plantersville. For information, call 800-458-3435 or visit www.texasrenfest.com. $12 to $25.
Saturdays, Sundays; Fri., Nov. 25. Starts: Oct. 8. Continues through Nov. 27, 2011
