Anna Bella Eema

According to Jason Nodler, the artistic director of Catastrophic Theatre and the director of Anna Bella Eema, the company’s newest show is “about a mother, her daughter and her daughter’s [twin] that she’s made out of the mud around her trailer park.” Each character tells the story from their own point of view. Conflict whirls around the trailer, which the government is trying to tear down in order to put in a highway. And underneath all that is a ghost story. “There are various ghosts,” says Nodler. “The supernatural looms large.”

More About

The show that The New York Times called a “successfully avant-garde one act-play” is deeply symbolic and highly musical. Nodler says, “The music is hauntingly beautiful. It’s all a cappella and full of strange and dissonant harmonies and percussive elements provided by everyday objects.” He adds, “The singers are all just amazing.” 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Through December 23. DiverseWorks, 1117 East Freeway. For information, call 713-522-2723 or visit www.-catastrophictheatre.com. Pay-what-you-can to $20.
Wednesdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: Dec. 2. Continues through Dec. 23, 2011
