Christmas Carol

When it comes to holiday entertainment, you usually have a choice between traditional or updated. Country Playhouse is happy to mix the two in its production of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol. Inspired by a production from London’s West End that featured a solo performance, the Country Playhouse version features a lone actor, John Stevens, who narrates the yummy old tale about learning to give and to receive in the best holiday spirit. The production is essentially Stevens interpreting the best Christmas story ever by inhabiting all the characters. Experience Tiny Tim, all those spooky ghosts and the delicious warmth of the season with a homey night of old-fashioned and newfangled theater. 7:30 p.m Thursdays, 8 p.m Fridays and Saturdays, 2 p.m. Sundays. Through December 18. 12802 Queensbury. For information, call 713-467-4497 or visit www.countryplayhouse.org. $12 to $15.
Thursdays-Sundays; Dec. 23-24. Starts: Dec. 8. Continues through Dec. 18, 2011
