The Great White Way gets a hearty send-up in the satirical revue Forbidden Broadway, presented by Masquerade Theatre. Writer/director Gerard Alessandrini set his sights on Broadway’s biggest shows in 1982, poking fun at Rent, The Phantom of the Opera and The Lion King, among others (the show is frequently updated to reflect new hits). And Broadway’s famous stars, such as Bernadette Peters, Chita Rivera, Whoopi Goldberg and even the saintly Julie Andrews get raked over the comedy coals by the Forbidden cast.

Annie gets the Forbidden treatment with an adult actress stuffed into that horrid red dress, a cigarette hanging from her lips as she sings, “I’m 30 years old tomorrow, and I haven’t worked since I played Annie when I was ten…Revive me! Revive me! Please, someone revive me before my red hair turns gray.” Carol Channing’s classic performance in Hello, Dollyis spoofed with a little rewriting of the lyrics. An over-the-top Carol is interrupted just as she’s about to start a song by a couple of chorus boys who sing, “Oh, no, Carol! No, no, no, Carol! Don’t you dare go Hello, Dolly once again.” 7 p.m. December 13, 16 and 17. Ovations, 2536 Times. For information, call 713‑861‑7045 or visit www.masqueradetheatre.com. $30 to $300.
Tue., Dec. 13, 7 p.m.; Fri., Dec. 16, 7 p.m.; Sat., Dec. 17, 7 p.m., 2011
