Let’s face it, Houston misses out on a lot of the traditional trappings of the Christmas season — no snow or frosty windows, for example. But that doesn’t mean we don’t know how to get in the spirit, and if a sleigh isn’t handy, then a boat should do nicely. The Buffalo Bayou Partnership’s Christmas Cruises launch from Allen’s Landing through mid-December. Participants float through downtown with a one-of-a-kind view of the light displays and skyline. The cruises are generally 30 minutes in length, and in addition to the holiday sights of the city, you might catch a glimpse of birds, fish, even the occasional alligator or a rotund, jolly fellow named Santa. 5 p.m. November 26.
