The Blaggards channel Shane MacGowan and his band, the Pogues, those snorty, surly-but-smart Irish troublemakers who, but for music, might be in prison. As the Houston answer to the Pogues (but with less alcohol intake involved), the Blaggards have been around here long enough that anyone who goes out is bound to have seen them and hair-swinging front man Patrick Devlin, a genuine, bona fide and certified Irishman. On the scene almost eight years now, the band has released two albums and built a small but rabidly loyal following. After recently completing a second tour of Ireland and after a series of gigs in College Station, the Blaggards return to Houston's northside for a Celtic rock throwdown.
